Lightweight, Compact Units Easily Mount on Small Antennas
General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies is introducing a new series solid state power block converters starting with the Ku-Band Models CPKM and CPKO 14. The units are produced by SATCOM Technologies Electronics Products business under the VertexRSI brand.
Brian Reuss, General Manager for SATCOM Technologies' State College, Pennsylvania manufacturing site, said, "Our new, compact sold-state power block converters provide 25 or 35 watts of saturated power over the standard 14 to 14.5 GHz frequency band, and the extended satellite uplink band of 13.75 to 14.50 GHz."
The new SATCOM Technologies converters are housed in lightweight, weatherized enclosures and feature integral heat sinks and fans. The units are ideally suited for use on small aperture or field-deployable antennas. Remote control and status monitoring functions are provided via an RS-422 link. In addition, an optional universal input AC power supply module is available which can be directly attached to the unit or remotely located depending on user preference.
Standard Features of the Ku-Band Compact SSPBs include:
- Integrated block upconverter with L-band input
- 25/35 Watt saturated output power
- Excellent linearity
- 65 dB gain
- Built-in monitor and control
- Temperature-compensated gain from -40 to +60°C
- Serial interface (RS-422)
- Output power monitor
- Internal Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OXCO), phase-lockable to external reference
- Extremely light weight, typically 7.5 lb (3.4kg)
- Mounts on small antennas
"The Ku-band units are the first offering of our new series of lightweight, solid-state power block converters," Reuss added. "We intend to follow up with C and X-band units in the future," he said.
