Lightweight, low profile design offers interchangeable X, Ku and Ka payloads for
instant On-the-Halt operation

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies is demonstrating a new Portable Vehicle Mounted satellite communications terminal (Model PVM24) at the AUSA Winter Symposium in Ft. Lauderdale this week.

Mounted on a US Army Stryker combat vehicle, the PVM24 terminal is the first prototype of a Phase One development effort using instant On-the-Halt technology derived from SATCOM Technologies’ successful Satcom-on-the-Move™ (SOTM) product family.

Marvin Shoemake, Vice President of Sales for SATCOM Technologies, said, “Our new PVM24 Terminal is designed to provide reliable high data rate satellite communications At-the-Quick-Halt and in Network Centric Waveform networking environments. We’ve incorporated our Satcom-on-the-Move technology into the PVM24 terminal’s electronics to allow it to be ready for operation while in motion, and to allow instant satellite access when the vehicle stops. In addition, the PVM24 terminal can be removed from the vehicle and operated in a ground configuration using its auto acquire function.

The compact PVM24 terminal’s interchangeable X, Ku and Ka radio frequency payloads provide maximum operational flexibility, while its lightweight, low profile design makes it easily adaptable to a variety of commercial and military wheeled and tracked vehicles.
