Raymon A. Heaton, General Manager of General Dynamics C4Systems’
VertexRSI Programs Business has announced that he will retire from
his post effective March 4. The Company announced that Brad Majeres,
General Manager of Programs – Duluth, will succeed Mr. Heaton. Majid
Ghanouni, Director, Program Management in Duluth, will succeed Mr.
Majeres.
The Programs Business of VertexRSI maintains facilities in Duluth,
Georgia, San Jose, California and Richardson, Texas. Their products
and services include satellite communications earth stations and
networks, satellite Telemetry, Tracking and Control (TT&C) systems,
full motion antennas, radio/optical telescopes, specialized
mechanical structures, monitor and control (M&C) systems, and high
performance servo control systems.
Mr. Heaton’s career has spanned the early stages and dynamic
expansion of the Satellite Communications business. He began his
career at Sperry Rand in Huntsville, Alabama, designing antennas for
NASA’s Apollo space program. He joined Scientific-Atlanta as a
research engineer in 1968 and subsequently served in a number of
engineering and management positions in the Company’s Satcom and
Instrumentation businesses before being named President of
Scientific-Atlanta’s Instrumentation
Division where he served from 1983 until 1987. Mr. Heaton then
joined Radiation Systems, Satcom Technologies in Duluth as Senior
Vice President Operations and served as General Manager from
1993-1995. Following two years service in an unrelated industry and
TriPoint Global’s acquisition of ComsatRSI, Mr. Heaton returned to
TriPoint Global Duluth Operation as Vice President and General
Manager, a post he held from 1998 to 2000 when he was named General
Manager of the Programs Division of the Company’s VertexRSI business
unit.
Gary Kanipe, Vice President and General Manager for General Dynamics
C4 Systems’ SATCOM Technologies Division, said, “Ray’s leadership of
the Programs Business has been a significant factor in our success
as a leading global supplier of satellite communications systems and
services. While Ray’s industry knowledge and experience will be hard
to replace, I have great confidence in Brad’s and Majid’s abilities
to expand VertexRSI’s market leadership.”
In his current position as General Manager, Brad Majeres provides
direction, leadership, and has overall financial responsibility for
the Duluth Operations of VertexRSI. Mr. Majeres started his career
as an engineer for McDonnell Douglas at Kennedy Space Center,
supporting the scheduling and test of payload-to-shuttle interfaces.
In 1985 he joined Scientific-Atlanta and held positions in Project
Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Operations Management during
his 13 years with the company. Mr. Majeres joined TriPoint Global’s
Duluth business in 1998 as Vice President, Engineering and
Operations and assumed his current position of General Manager,
VertexRSI, Duluth, in 2001. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical
Engineering Degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Majid Ghanouni started his career in the industry at
Scientific-Atlanta’s Broadband Communications Group in 1987. After
completing his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
Technology from Southern Polytechnic State University, 1990, he
began working at Scientific-Atlanta Network Systems and held
positions in Project Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Program
Management of satellite communications projects. Mr. Ghanouni joined
Hughes Network systems as a Senior Program Manager in 1997. His
service at VertexRSI, Duluth, began in 1998 as Senior Program
Manager, which led to his current position as Director of Program
Management in 2001.
