New Units from VertexRSI Offered in L, C,
and Ku Bands
VertexRSI will roll out their newly updated Single-Band (L-, C-, and
Ku-Band) Synthesized Up and Down Frequency Converters in January
2005.
The VertexRSI brand, recently acquired by General Dynamics C4
Systems, has provided thousands of high performance single band and
multi-band synthesized frequency up and down converters for
satellite ground station applications since 1995.
The SCR-Series of Synthesized Frequency Converters is backward
compatible with VertexRSI’s existing UCS(B)/DCS(B) line of
Synthesized Frequency Converters and also operates seamlessly with
the Company’s 1:1 through 1:8 STARswitch™ Redundancy Controllers.
Gabe Vitorla, Vice President of Sales for VertexRSI’s electronic
products, said, “Our newly updated series of frequency converters
have improved performance and a user friendly design, enabling the
SATCOM ground station operator greater flexibility in configuring
their system architecture. Ease of maintenance and troubleshooting
is another added benefit.”
Each Frequency Band is available in the following configurations:
| L-Band UC: |
RF Frequency: |
950 – 1950 MHz, |
IF Frequency 70 or 140 MHz |
| L-Band DC: |
RF Frequency: |
950 – 1950 MHz, |
IF Frequency 70 or 140 MHz |
| C-Band UC: |
RF Frequency: |
5.850 – 6.725 GHz, |
IF Frequency 70 or 140 MHz |
| C-Band DC: |
RF Frequency: |
3.400 – 4.200 GHz, |
IF Frequency 70 or 140 MHz |
| Ku-Band UC: |
RF Frequency: |
13.75 – 14.50 GHz |
IF Frequency 70 or 140 MHz |
| Ku-Band DC: |
RF Frequency: |
10.70 – 12.75 GHz |
IF Frequency 70 or 140 MHz |
Additional Key Features:
- Phase Noise performance has been
improved on average, by 3dB at various offsets, and is >10dB
better than the IESS 308/309 standard.
- Step-size: 125kHz (Optional 1kHz
step size is also available).
- The unit is contained in a slim
1RU chassis, 20 inches deep.
- Uses Standard VertexRSI User
Interface.
- The unit has a non-inverting,
dual conversion frequency plan.
- External 5 or 10 MHz reference
input (0 to +10dBm).
- Flash Programmable memory - FPGA
microprocessor allows for easy field upgrades adding greater
flexibility while reducing potential system downtime.
- 30dB Attenuation Range
- Network Ethernet Interface
available.
- RS232, 422, 485 M&C Interfaces
are all supported with the same micro-board.
- Universal AC input, 90-264 Vac (autoranging).
- CE approved
- Military products available upon
request
- X-Band, Tri-Band UC/DC’s also
available.
Quality, Reliability, 3-Year
Warranty
“The quality and reliability for these new up/down converters have
been improved by lowering the parts count and by exercising more
manufacturing control of key component parts,” Vitorla said. “These
include the PLO (phase-locked oscillator) which has been
manufactured in high volume for our highly reliable block converter
products for several years in our State College, Pennsylvania
facility.
“Our new single band up/down converters are backed by a standard
three-year warranty similar to our other outstanding electronic
products including Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA’s), Low-Noise
Amplifiers (LNA’s), and Block Converters,” Vitorla said.
