General Dynamics C4 Systems announced
it has received the Defense Security Service’s distinguished James
S. Cogswell Industrial Security Achievement Award. The American
Society of Industrial Security International presented the award
recently to the Company’s Controls and Structures facility in
Richardson, Tex.
Controls and Structures is a business area recently acquired by
General Dynamics C4 Systems through its acquisition of TriPoint
Global Communications. The Controls and Structures business provides
precision antennas, positioning systems and control systems for
satellite communications, radio telescope, optical telescope, radar,
and other specialized applications.
The U.S. Government relies on
cleared facilities to administer sound security programs while
properly protecting classified assets in their possession. The
Cogswell Award, established in 1966 in honor of the late U.S. Air
Force Colonel James S. Cogswell, is based on outstanding overall
security programs in which the contractor routinely resolves
problems independently and is extremely responsive to the National
Industrial Security Program among other criteria. Less than one
tenth of one percent of the Industrial Security Program’s cleared
industries is selected annually to receive this award
Ralph White, a Vice President of
General Dynamics C4 Systems and General Manager of the Controls and
Structures facility, said “A compromise of classified information,
particularly if it relates to a system’s susceptibility to
counterattack, can have disastrous consequences, including loss of
life and reduced war fighter capability. This is truly a great honor
for Controls and Structures to be among one of only eight cleared
facilities selected from a pool of more than 12,000 contractors.”
